Cookie Policy
This policy explains how Optima Genetics uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, why they are used, and the choices available to you.

1. Who we are
This website is operated by Optima Genetics. For questions about this policy or our use of cookies, contact us at info@optimagenetics.com or write to us at 153 Giannou Kranidioti Avenue, 2231 Nicosia, Cyprus.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They can allow a website to operate securely, remember information about your visit, and provide requested services. Similar technologies include local storage, software development kits, pixels, and other identifiers that store or access information on your device. In this policy, “cookies” includes these similar technologies where appropriate.
Session cookies generally expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period or until you delete them. First-party cookies are placed by this website; third-party cookies are placed by another service whose features are used on the website.
3. How and why we use cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to provide functions you request, secure the website, authenticate registered users, maintain sessions, and prevent fraud. These cookies cannot be switched off through our website because the relevant service cannot operate without them.
We use Google Analytics 4, with your consent, to understand aggregate website traffic such as page visits, approximate location, device and browser information, and how visitors find and navigate the website. Analytics does not load until you accept it. We disable Google advertising signals and do not use analytics for advertising or to build marketing profiles.
4. Cookies and technologies currently used
| Cookie / technology | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors so that we can understand aggregate website usage and improve the website. Set only after consent. | Up to 2 years | Optional analytics |
| _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Maintains information about a visitor's session for website measurement. Set only after consent. | Up to 2 years | Optional analytics |
| __session | Optima Genetics / Firebase Authentication | Keeps registered users securely signed in and protects access to account, clinician, and administration areas. | Up to 5 days, or until logout | Strictly necessary |
| YouTube cookies and similar identifiers | YouTube / Google | May be set when you choose to play an embedded video, including to deliver the video, maintain security, and remember player preferences. | Set and controlled by YouTube; duration varies by identifier | Third-party media |
The exact names and lifetimes of third-party identifiers may change when those providers update their services. Their use is also governed by their own policies. See the Google Cookie Policy .
5. Embedded videos and third-party services
Some pages may include YouTube videos using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain. No video is played automatically. When you choose to play or interact with an embedded video, YouTube may store or access identifiers on your device and receive information such as your IP address, device details, the page visited, and your interaction with the player. Google acts under its own terms and privacy information for that processing.
6. Legal basis and consent
Under applicable Cyprus and EU electronic communications law, consent is not required for technical storage or access that is strictly necessary to transmit a communication or provide a service you explicitly request. We rely on this exemption for strictly necessary cookies. Where a cookie or similar technology is not strictly necessary, we will request your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent before using it.
Where information collected through cookies is personal data, it is handled in accordance with applicable data-protection law. The relevant basis will depend on the purpose, including providing a requested service, protecting our systems and users, complying with legal obligations, or your consent where required.
7. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Browser controls vary, so consult your browser’s help pages. If you block strictly necessary cookies, login, account, security, and other requested functions may not work correctly. Deleting local website data may also cause the cookie notice to appear again.
You can withhold or withdraw analytics consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of any use before withdrawal. Use the Cookie settings control in the website footer to change your choice. You may also change it here: .
8. International transfers and recipients
Third-party providers may process information in countries other than Cyprus or your country of residence. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, the responsible provider must use an applicable transfer mechanism and safeguards, such as an adequacy decision or approved standard contractual clauses. Please review each provider’s privacy information for details of its processing locations and safeguards.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when our website, providers, or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date shows when the policy was most recently revised. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate, and fresh consent will be sought where a change requires it.
10. Contact and complaints
If you have a question, request, or concern about cookies, email info@optimagenetics.com. You may also contact or lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus through its official website .
